General Manager

Val Garfield is the ELTEC General Manager. Val has 25+ years of experience in the elevator/escalator industry at Schindler Elevator in various roles of sales, operations, management and head of strategic accounts nationally. He places his primary emphasis on providing ELTEC customers with a stand-out customer experience, which starts with his daily commitment to providing training and education for his team members. Val focuses on team collaboration, that is backed up with action steps, which he calls collabor-action—-this is key to understanding challenges, finding solutions and resolving them for our customers in a timely manner. Val’s philosophy is that the most powerful leadership tool available is one’s own personal example which he strives to set for his team each and every day.

Director of Sales

Shruti joined Eltec in 2022 and brings a myriad of skills and experience to the team with an experience of over 15yrs across leadership in Account Management, Sales, and Business Development in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Industries. She is passionate about delivering consistent high-quality customer experience whilst enabling a culture of ownership across teams. She leads by the Servant Leadership model and finds success in the growth and development of her team.

In her time away from Eltec, she is involved with her daughter in her activities. She loves to travel around the world, likes to play golf and be outdoors exploring the beautiful PNW.

Service Manager

My role @ ELTEC allows me to help others and make a positive difference where I can. In creating the ELTEC Customer Experience, I work to respond to customers’ requests as soon as possible. I also work to remove confusion and fear when communicating with my customers regarding their elevator issues. I take complex equipment issues and interpret them so they are easy for my customers to understand, and couple that with my solution on how to most effectively fix the problem and get their equipment up-and-running as quickly and efficiently as possible. Due to my amount of experience working with elevators, I enjoy educating my customers on all aspects of elevator challenges that come their way.

In my down-time I enjoy History, Alternative Energy/Fuel, HAM Radio Operator, building and improving things, Strategy and vacationing in faraway places.

Modernization Operations Manager

When I started in the trade, I was fortunate to work with an extremely talented Mechanic, and I soaked up a lot of knowledge.  My mentor took me under his wing and taught me everything he knew. I owe a lot of my work ethic and troubleshooting philosophies to him.  So, it’s no surprise that the favorite part of my job is training Mechanics, as well as keeping my field team happy and productive.  I really like working as part of a team and sharing what I’ve learned over the years.  My commitment to the ELTEC Customer Experience is helping my customers with their vertical transportation needs.  I enjoy interacting with our customers because it gives me an opportunity to relieve stress from their lives. Life has enough stressors and if I can help remove one, I feel like I’m making a positive difference.

When I’m not at work, I have two main things in my life, family and training.  As a young dad I spend a lot of time with my teenage daughter.  We like getting bubble tea, practicing volley ball and going on back packing adventures.  As for me, I’m all about an active and healthy lifestyle.  I spend a lot of time riding my bike.  I train every day, and race my bike all seasons.  Some people would say I’m crazy but that’s how I live my life.  If I decide to do something, it’s 100%—-so, if you see me on your job, rest-assured I’m in it for the win!

I enjoy the dynamic and challenging working environment @ ELTEC, coupled with collaborating with my colleagues to resolve issues as I manage projects from inception through completion. I love giving ELTEC customers a stand-out Customer Experience that they cannot get at any other elevator company.  As a team, we achieve this through transparency and proactive communication.  It’s very rewarding to me to turn over exceptional, quality projects that exceed customers’ expectations, while minimizing their down-time.

When I’m off of work I love being outdoors hiking, golfing and spending time with family and friends.  My regular Yoga practice brings everything into balance for me, keeping me centered, mindful and flexible in both mind and body.

Code & Safety Compliance Supervisor

I love leading the code and safety compliance division @ ELTEC!  It’s a dynamic and exciting role that involves writing, training, coaching, customer outreach, constant continuing education, and best of all—running our Stop for Safety weekly radio program!  It’s a great way for the ELTEC family to learn from each other, share experiences and bring a mindful awareness and approach to safety.  I find it very rewarding to help customers navigate the sometimes daunting world of code compliance.  It’s great to be part of an effort that helps people proactively plan for code and safety issues so they can worry less.

When I take a break away from ELTEC, I enjoy journeys in the woods with friend, and chillin’ on the beach over in West Seattle with the family.

Office Manager

My first role @ ELTEC was in Dispatch for the Service department.  From there I took over all invoicing, scheduling and planning.  Currently my position is Office Manager which involves many different tasks.  What I love the most about ELTEC is that it still has a family atmosphere, even throughout our constant growth.  There is constant communication and focus on improving our processes to enhance the Customer Experience.  New and fresh ideas are always on the mover around here, so it’s always exciting!

Away from the office, my family is #1.  I also love reading, crafting, all sports and hanging with my animals!
